frequently asked questions
What time do you gather for worship?
Our Unified Worship Service is at 10AM every Sunday, including a blend of traditional and contemporary elements. Join us in-person in the sanctuary, or on Livestream.
What should I wear?
Come as you are! We want you to feel comfortable and welcome, so there’s no dress code. Some people dress casually, while others prefer to dress up. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. We’ll be glad to have you with us!
Where should I park?
We have a main parking lot with handicap accessible parking located behind our building off of Grand River Ave. If our main lot is full, additional parking is available in the public lots located below the Chamber of Commerce (neighboring white building).
What is available for my kids?
Your kids are welcome here! We offer a variety of programs on Sunday mornings for babies all the way through high school seniors. The Nursery is open every Sunday for children newborn-4 years old. Children preschool through 5th grade are invited to downstairs for Sunday School after the Passing of the Peace. Youth (6th-12th) are invited to attend Bible Study starting at 10:00 AM. To learn more, head over to the Connect page.
How can I stay informed about events and activities at First Presbyterian Church?
There are several ways to stay connected with what’s happening at First Presbyterian Church. Visit the Event Calendar page to learn more. Announcements are shared on the screens before each worship service, and our website is a great place to find information about upcoming events and activities.
You can also sign up for our weekly email updates to receive the latest news, announcements, and reminders. To join our email list, please contact the church office at melaniep@brightonpresbyterian.org or call 810-227-7411.
Don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram @fpcbrighton for updates and ways to stay connected throughout the week!
What is Coffee Hour?
Coffee hour is held downstairs, in the Fellowship Hall, directly following service. There are light snacks and beverages (coffee!) served. It is a time for all to visit and build friendships, both members and visitors.
Am I expected to give an offering? What is customary?
We invite you to give as much as you are comfortable giving. Contributions are integral to the church and its day-to-day function, and we appreciate any amount you feel called to give. You can place offerings in the offering box or simply go to Give on our website.
How do I become a member?
We have membership classes, at convenient times, that you can sign up for in the church office. Please contact our church office at 810-227-7411 with any questions.
I keep hearing the terms “Narthex and NOSH,” what do they mean?
The Narthex is the area of the church just outside of the Sanctuary doors. The NOSH is the “New Old Sanctuary Hall” and is located on the opposite end of the building from the Sanctuary.
